Sadly I’ve had to concentrate on getting back into the swing of things and the day to day shenanigans of remembering how to work for a living this week.
The library has had me return to giving OAPs and Jobseekers lessons in the very basics of using computers this week. This series of lessons continues for another three weeks. While not particularly in depth, it is still very time consuming, but rewarding.
Next week will also bring the Chatterbooks session for December, so I’ve been preparing material for that, including a version of the book bingo I’ve recently introduced to the adults library.
Over in the land of making things up for a living, a regular client has very bravely offered some writing work to appear under my own name; so this week has seen a couple of news articles and an opinion piece appearing on PoliticallyMinded.
It’s something of a departure for me, where there’s almost been a comfort in being able to hide behind other people’s names as a ghostwriter. Suddenly it’s my name and my opinions that are being paid for, and that is slightly scary, but rather pleasing at the same time. Let’s see how it goes.
In the meantime I’ve also been distracted by Lady M’s ongoing recovery from her injury and fight with a stubborn infection. We seem to be making progress at last, but it’s felt precarious at times.
At least this weekend has brought cheer in the new housewarming and festive cheer for my youngest brother, leading to much frivolity, feasting and friendly banter last night. The first mince pie of the season made it’s appearance, washed down with mulled wine, and the rampaging through YouTube and Spotify for obscure or surreal musical accompaniment. A good time was had by all, and the sore heads this morning soon dispersed…
